Flight training

IRI(SE) / FI(G)

The training is intended for pilots who have sufficient experience in flying under IFR conditions and would like to pass on their experience.

Entry requirements

  • Hold an FI: have completed at least 200 hours of IFR flight time, of which up to 50 hours may be instrument ground time in an FFS, FTD 2/3 or FNPT II.
  • Not holding an FI: have completed at least 800 hours of IFR flight time, of which at least 400 hours shall be completed in aeroplanes. The applicant shall hold valid licences and ratings resulting from previous experience requirements: PPL, FI, IR; or CPL, IR.

Theoretical part

  • The applicant shall hold an FI: the theory shall consist of 10 hours of technical training to achieve the required level of theoretical knowledge
  • Non-FI applicant: must complete 25 hours of teaching, followed by 10 hours of technical training to achieve the required level of theoretical knowledge.

Practical part

  • If the applicant holds an FI: the practical part consists of 5 hours, 4 of which are in the simulator where the applicant learns how to use the simulator and is explained common mistakes and problems in IR training and 1 hour is in the aircraft where he/she tries the role of an instructor in IR training up to 50 hours may consist of ground instrument time in FFS, FTD 2/3 or FNPT II.
  • If the applicant is not an FI holder: the practical part consists of 5 hours, 4 of which are on the simulator, where the applicant learns how to work with the simulator and is explained common mistakes and problems in IR training and 1 hour is in the aircraft where he tries the role of an instructor in IR training.
